Group Work
Protection Group
Protection Group is undertaken in the form of interactive group sessions and is broken down into eight sessions lasting one hour. There is then a concluding session with general discussion and feedback.
The work is addressed on such a way as to make it enjoyable and informative. We use discussion, formal teaching, brainstorming and written exercises.
The content of each session is an entity itself, however they can and do intermix week by week.
Areas covered are as follows:
Boundaries, Vulnerability, Trust, Stranger Danger, Risky Adults, Abuse and the Consequences of such, Grooming, Touching, Risky Situations, Bullying, Domestic Violence, Support Networks, Friends, Conflict, Problem Solving, and how to be Assertive.
OK Group
This group looks at self-awareness/self esteem in a very low key way. It is conducted on an interactive and thought provoking basis, including formal instruction, questionnaires, discussion and role play within the sessions.
The work will always be tailored to accommodate the level of ability of those attending.
The aim is to make the sessions enjoyable, to encourage an understanding of what self esteem is all about, thus facilitating a desire to work on their own feelings an engender a desire to teach their children ways of building their own self esteem. We also aim to help them to be good models for their children, showing them how to deal with issues as and when they arise rather than having a negative build up.
Areas covered are as follows.
Self esteem, negative and positive thinking, how we see things, rights, respect, past experience, emotional needs, building self esteem, rejection, assertiveness, self awareness, and children's self esteem.
Finally we work on a mission statement for life. This will include wishes and feelings, hopes and desires and will hopefully engender a realistic view of what can be and how this can be achieved.
