Place of Safety Viability Assessment

Following discharge from hospital, we are able to offer a ‘Place of Safety’ to prevent a mother and their new born baby being separated whilst waiting for a court hearing to decide the baby’s immediate future.

Rather than a baby going into foster care we are able to accommodate mother and baby together for a maximum of ten days.

This service prevents the emotional upset that separation creates.  It also facilitates the bonding process which provides a sense of security for the baby and promotes healthy attachment.

At the same time, the Place of Safety allows us to complete a viability assessment to recommend whether or not there should be further assessment.
