Place of Safety Viability Assessment
Following discharge from hospital, we are in a position to offer a ‘Place of Safety’ (at both Centres) to prevent a mother and their new born baby being separated whilst waiting for a court hearing to determine the baby’s immediate future.
Rather than a baby going into foster care we are able to accommodate mother and baby together for a maximum period of ten days. This service prevents the emotional distress that separation creates. It also facilitates the bonding process which fosters a sense of security for the baby and promotes healthy attachment.
At the same time, such an arrangement enables us to undertake a viability assessment to recommend whether or not there should be further assessment.
There is no charge for this invaluable service.
