Lottery Funding boost for “Hurdle"

We are incredibly happy to have been granted £379,514 for 5-years’ project funding by the National Lottery Community Fund for our “Hurdle” service.

Hurdle is dedicated to reducing the number of children being taken into care each year. We help parents and parents-to-be who have experienced, or are at risk of, the repeated removal of children from their care. We help them overcome the significant emotional, personal and practical problems which prevent them providing a safe, secure home and future for themselves and their children.

Hurdle provides befriending, peer and mentoring support, in addition to providing supportive programmes, activities and projects.

We support parents with any issues they may be experiencing, such as confidence, self-esteem, life skills, addressing previous trauma, mental health issues, substance abuse, poor education & employment opportunities, poverty, housing insecurity and isolation. Hurdle offers learning and personal development opportunities in relation to parenting skills such as basic care, routines, play and stimulation, safety and protection.

This greatly needed, free service helps parents overcome their challenges, and work towards a positive, healthy and empowered future.

With thanks to this funding, we are proud and delighted to now expand this vital service to reach even greater numbers of families in wider geographical areas.

We’re looking forward to sharing the life changing successes and impact of Hurdle soon.
